It was a busy weekend for us here. On Friday evening we took the boys to the annual Plano Balloon Festival. Friday was the opening day and the schedule was to have the first set of balloons launch around six o’clock, a group of sky divers would come in in next and it would all wrap up with another group of balloons that would come on the field just after dark and put on a night time balloon lighting\/fire extravaganza<\/span>. We arrived plenty early so we could eat dinner there before the launch but unfortunately it was way too windy for balloons.<\/p>\n

The first group came out to the field but it was so windy they only set up their baskets on the field and didn’t even bother to get their balloons out. When it came time for the skydivers the plane flew over twice but the winds were just over 20 miles an hour so it wasn’t safe for a jump. Since all the main events were canceled<\/span> we spent most of the time in the kids play area where Alex burned through a pocket full of money playing in one of the many bounce houses. We didn’t stick around for the night time balloon activities since the wind wasn’t calming down and the event was most likely not going to happen. So it turned out to be kind of a bust.<\/p>\n

On Saturday night Alex and I went to the soccer game to see FC<\/span> Dallas<\/a> play Real Salt Lake.\u00a0 For the last couple of years Alex has done a reading program with the library where he after reading a certain number of minutes he can turn his reading log in for prizes.\u00a0 So far every year the big prize has been a free ticket to the soccer game which Alex just loves. FCD<\/span> won the game 2-1 and they scored both of their goals in the first half and as a bonus we were sitting the scoring end.\u00a0 During<\/span> the whole game Alex was giving me a non-stop commentary<\/span> of the action on the field or asking me questions.\u00a0 We had loads of fun. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
