(Dramatic pause while I let sink in.)<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s only April for crying out loud!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Monday was a record high temperature, beating the old record of 94\u00b0 (34\u00b0 C) set in 1913.<\/li>\n<li>It broke the record for the hottest ever April temperature.<\/li>\n<li>It was the third earliest 100\u00b0 day ever.\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The opening paragraph of the story covering the weather in The Dallas Morning News was:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><em>&#8220;April&#8217;s unexpected warmup sent temperatures surging to 101 degrees Monday in Dallas, rewriting weather records, triggering rolling electric blackouts and offering an early taste of what could be a hot, dry summer even by Texas standards.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The key here is the last bit of the sentence, &#8220;<strong><em>hot, dry summer even by Texas standards<\/em><\/strong>.&#8221;  My first summer in the the city we had 80 consecutive days of over 100\u00b0 temperatures. The only way to accomplish such a fantastic feat is to never cool down.  By eight in the morning it was typically in the 80&#8217;s and at night it never dropped below 70.
