| Bathtub leak |
|
|
|
|
| Just to
keep things interesting our bathtub on the second story decided to
spring a leak in the drain pipe and slowly drip onto the counter top
below. I guess the only good thing about it was that any damage
to the cupboards or counter top didn't really matter since all of that
was going to be replaced. The only problem was that I needed to
really get it fixed before the new stuff was put in. To see how bad things were I cut a hole in the ceiling and found the leak but unfortunately I couldn't remove any of the plumbing fittings because there just wasn't enough room to work in. I even tried getting to it from the bathtub but that didn't work either. In the end I had to call the plumbers out and even they had a difficult time. Here is the hold that I ended up having in the ceiling that I now needed to patch.... |

| Here is my handy work at
filling the hold. Thanks to Dad for this piece of great
advice. Since we have popcorn ceilings all throughout the house I
was worried that if I patched the hold I wouldn't be able to get the
patched sections to match the original section. Dad made the
suggestion to just get a vent to fill the hole which is exactly what I
did and I think it looks rather good. |

| Below is
a picture of the bath tub with the side panel removed. There is
just a huge piece of marble that fills this gap but the odd thing is
that that there isn't anywhere to really attach the marble to.
The only section of glue that was holding it in place was along the the
rim the the bath tub. |
