  1. Congratulations!! I’m glad Caroline was so casual during the ceremony, no need for shoes when dad is becoming a citizen. Maybe she figured no big deal since she was a citizen before you 🙂

  2. He was a mess. There was lots of cursing in the car which made for such a pleasant ride. The ceremony was actually incredibly moving. When each country was called and people would stand up it gave me chills. As dorky as it sounds, I was really proud of my country.

  3. Dearest Derek,
Congratulations on becoming a United States citizen….I’m sure it was not an easy decision for you considering Canada’s such a great country…Tim Horton and all…ironically when people at work get disgusted with US politics they talk about moving to Canada…I bet Rick Perry’s thinking he’s got your vote for president….it is also cool to know that there is another type A in the family..perfectionism is our cross to bear….Don’t just sit on the sidelines, politically….we the people and all that…love and hugs to my great new American son-in-law….pat
