Kitchen Renovations - Stage 1 - The Wreck Out

Our story now continues.  The cabinets as well as all the appliances have been ordered and delivered and are now sitting in the garage and it is now time for the installers to wreak out all the existing cabinets.

To save on the cost a little we decided that we would remove all the wonderful pink tile along the back wall and the 1980's themed mirrored bar along the left hand side of the wall.  In another cost savings move we decide to have the appliance delivery people take away our old appliances (for free) the only caveat being that they all had to be removed.  Again the removal proved to be pretty easy but it just meant that we have had live without an oven or a stove for over a week now which makes cooking a little difficult.  On a positive note my Bar-B-Q skills have been improving daily.

Everything has been moving forward pretty smoothly just a little bit slowly.  Ahh....but what would a renovation be without at least a couple of problems.  The first one was totally unrelated to doing the kitchen but as it turns out I'm glad it happened before we had the cabinets installed.  The bath tub on the second floor which happens to sit pretty much over the stove starting leaking onto the counter top.  Nothing like a little bit of water damage on the ceiling to start things off .  For those so interested you can see the nice hole here.

Ready for Wreck Out
Here the picture of the kitchen right before the cabinet guys came to wreck it all out.  From this picture you can get a preview of the colour that we are thinking of painting the walls when it is all done.

Wet Bar Before
To the left is a picture of the wet bar area before it has been demolished.  I didn't take a before picture but from the counter top was all mirror and glass shelves.

You too can look like white trash......
Dishwasher in Backyard.
Thats right.  Our garage is so full of cabinets and new appliances that when I took out the old dishwasher I didn't have any place to put it.  So until I get some room cleared out of the garage it is sitting in our backyard.  (It hurts me to even say it.)
