Dad – This is a very nice painting, it looks like a Picasso. Were you studying Picasso in art class?

Alex – Yes.

Dad – How did you draw the background?

Alex – Like what do mean background?

Dad – The flowers.

Alex – We made flower shapes and drew long stems on them. We drew this short pencil line with a dot in the middle and we made all the stems come through it.

Dad – The hand is very nice, is that your hand?

Alex – Yes, yes yes.

Dad – How did you draw your hand?

Alex – Mrs. McKee our art teacher traced our hand and we went over it with a Sharpie and then we cut it out.

Dad – Then how did you attach the hand to the paper?

Alex – We glued it.

Dad – Is there anything else you want to tell me about your picture?

Alex – No, no no.
