I Interview Alex about his Picasso

Dad – This is a very nice painting, it looks like a Picasso. Were you studying Picasso in art class?

Alex – Yes.

Dad – How did you draw the background?

Alex – Like what do mean background?

Dad – The flowers.

Alex – We made flower shapes and drew long stems on them. We drew this short pencil line with a dot in the middle and we made all the stems come through it.

Dad – The hand is very nice, is that your hand?

Alex – Yes, yes yes.

Dad – How did you draw your hand?

Alex – Mrs. McKee our art teacher traced our hand and we went over it with a Sharpie and then we cut it out.

Dad – Then how did you attach the hand to the paper?

Alex – We glued it.

Dad – Is there anything else you want to tell me about your picture?

Alex – No, no no.

Alex’s Matisse

First we got a big piece of paper and we did the background with the dotters. Then we made a big fish container and we outlined with a Sharpie. Then we drew the fish and outlined them with a Sharpie. Then we painted the water blue. Then we drew stems and cut out leaves from green paper and we put them around our fish container.

Alex’s Owl Picture from Art.

Our class made owl’s in Art class. I made a good one. I cut out the eyes from yellow paper and drew black circles in the middle. My owl’s wings were long. I drew a rocket ship in the picture and I also drew the moon and lots of stars. I colored it with oil pastels. We made the wings curvy rectangular lines. We made the body in the shape of a square. We made the beak one triangle facing up and one facing down. I made two leaves.

Alex, Self Portrait in Winter

Guest blogger Alex on his Self Portrait in Winter:

I made myself in winter. It was fun and it took a couple of weeks to finish it.

The first thing we did was make the face and ears and we tried to find a color which matched our skin. Then we drew our winter hats. Then we made our scarf. I picked red and black. Then we made our winter coats and I picked orange. Then we used oil pastels which were white and pressed hard on the open spaces to make the snowflakes. Then we painted around them and I picked blue and purple. Then we made the mouth, nose, and mouth and eyebrows and eyes. Then were drew pick circles to make our cheeks look cold.

Abe’s Log Cabin

If it weren’t for the kids artwork this bog would certainly be a whole lot more stale then it already is. I think it was a couple of months ago now when Alex actually did this artwork in social studies.
