As promised I’ve put the pictures from my citizenship ceremony up along with the entire write up on my super traffic induced stress ulcer.
Nothing is ever easy with me.
As promised I’ve put the pictures from my citizenship ceremony up along with the entire write up on my super traffic induced stress ulcer.
Nothing is ever easy with me.
Yup, it’s me. Today I took my Oath of Allegiance and became an American Citizen.
Back in June I submitted the application for citizenship and today I completed the process with my Naturalization ceremony. I’m working on my passport application and have my voter registration card ready to mail in.
Jen took some pictures and I’ll work on getting those up soon.
Conversation that I had tonight with Alex through the bathroom door.
Alex: Dad!!!
10 seconds later.
Alex: Dad!!!!
Me: I’m coming hang on.
I get to the bathroom
Me: What?
Alex: Can you get me a new roll of toilet paper, we ran out.
Me: Ah, no, we don’t have any left.
Alex: But what am I supposed to do?
Me: Use your hand, just wash it off when you get out.
With absolute horror in his voice
Alex: But, but, ….. but, I’ve gone….
That’s when I let him off the hook and opened the door and threw him a new roll.
Summer is over for another year and the boys returned to school this morning. I’m pretty sure if you asked them they would tell you that they had a great summer but it wasn’t long enough. When you were a kid was summer holiday ever long enough?
We all walked over to the school this morning and even Caroline insisted on having her own backpack. It’s hard to believe it’s already the start of another school year.
Once again I’ve been pretty lax in keeping the website updated. There has been all kinds of stuff going on but I’ve just been falling behind.
We kept our tradition of taking yearly pictures of the kids but with all the bad weather we had around Caroline’s birthday we ended up taking her pictures a little late. In fact we didn’t get around to it until May so we just did everyone’s pictures on the same day. This worked out really well since we were able to take a bunch of group pictures that we’ve never done before.I think the group shots turned our really nice and we’ll probably try and do those every year.
Here are the links to the individual picture pages.
Right after the kids got out of school Jen drove with them to Watercolor Florida like we did last year to vacation with her family. Unfortunately I had a conference I needed to attend for work during that same week so I was only able to join them on the last day. Even though it was only for the day it was still fun and on the way back we stopped in to visit the USS Alabama battleship in Mobile Bay.
Then last weekend we surprised the kids with a trip to Sea World San Antonio. Over the summer Jen has been doing a “theme of the week” activity with the kids. The week they started piano lessons they had a music themed activity they did each day. The week before Sea World they were doing water animal themed activities. On Thursday I came home from work early and we surprised them with the trip. I wish I had a picture of Andrew’s face when he made the connection that we were going to be leaving right now, not in a couple of days, he looked like he was going to explode with excitement. Unfortunately we’ve now set the bar really high on surprises and I’m not sure we can top it.
I’m sure Jen is going to post on this next week but if you’ve been paying attention Friday was “Cow Appreciation Day” at Chick-fil-a. Show up dressed in a cow costume and you get a free meal.
Jen and the kids did this event last year for lunch but this year we were doing it for dinner so I had the pleasure of being able to get dressed up. I really hate this kind of stuff but Jen just told me to suck it up and don’t worry, no one will notice you.
We entered the restaurant and so much for not being noticed. One of the managers was checking out everyone’s costume as we came in and was taking pictures to post on their facebook page.
So here you go, from the “Raving Fans of Chick-fil-a Allen” facebook page. Hey, we got 5 free meals.
It’s been a really long time since I’ve updated the website with any pictures. Looking back the last update was the pictures from Andrew’s spring baseball back in March. I finally sat down and started working through the backlog and uploaded a bunch of new stuff.
Enjoy.
Last weekend we finished up another lacrosse season. When I get the chance I’ll post some pictures I took during the year but until then I thought I would post his official picture.

Happy Easter everything. Here are two of Andrew’s art pieces he made this year, his duck egg and spring flower.

Posted a couple of pictures from Andrew’s Spring Basketball season.
We were not really good about taking pictures during the season so on the very last game Jen brought the camera and took a couple.
